If you're like most people, you've probably heard the term "call to action" thrown around a lot, but what does it actually mean and why should you care? 🤔
A call to action is a message that encourages a user to take action, such as but not limited to:
👉 clicking a button,
👉 signing up for an email list,
👉 filling out a form, or
👉 watching a video
It's important because it helps guide users through your content so they don't get lost.
For example: When you see a button on a website labeled "Sign Up," it's because there is something behind that button that will help you reach your goal—whether it's getting more information about the company or investing in some learning materials.
CTAs can be found on websites, social media, emails, and other marketing materials.
The goal of a CTA is to drive conversions and encourage users to engage with a product or service. 🙌
A CTA is also one of the most critical elements when creating and completing your caption and in any marketing or advertising campaign.
1️⃣ CTAs highly encourage your audience to take specific actions with your posts instead of simply consuming your content
It's best not to assume that your audience will immediately know what to do with your content - lead them instead.
⭐ Do you want them to comment/share their thoughts, DM you, share, save your post, or follow you?
- This helps drive engagement and community growth!
⭐ Do you want them to download your freebie?
- This helps you add your target audience to your funnel and nurture them through your freebie's email sequences
⭐ Do you want them to sign up for your email list?
- This helps you reach and connect with your ideal audience on a more personal level and is a great way to build your community, without giving too much power or relying on social media (you know, in case Instagram will encounter bugs/issues in the future!)
⭐ Do you want them to sign up for your offers?
- Let them know what offers you have by leading them to that specific page!
2️⃣ CTAs will help you reach your goal about a specific post, and one of your social media goals as a whole
If your goal is to stir engagement and connect with your audience, let them share their thoughts in the comments section OR they can also DM you
If your goal is to increase your email contacts and then nurture your audience from there, add a CTA guiding them on where to sign up for your email list/freebie and what they can get out of it.
Here are some important things to keep in mind when it comes to CTAs:
📌 Be clear and concise
Your CTA should be clear and concise and not require too much thought from your audience so that they will know what they’re supposed to do
Use action-oriented language that communicates exactly what you want them to do.
📌 Make it stand out
Your CTA should be eye-catching and stand out from the rest of your content.
Use contrasting colors or bold text to draw attention to it.
📌 Make it relevant to your content
Your CTA should be directly related to the content of your post, and that it offers value to your audience!
📌 Place it strategically
Your CTA should be placed in a location where it makes the most sense.
For example, if you want someone to sign up for a newsletter, place the CTA at the end of a blog post where they have already engaged with your content.
📌 Test and optimize
Don't be afraid to test different CTAs to see what works best for your audience.
You can use A/B testing to compare different versions and optimize your CTA for maximum effectiveness.
Remember, the ultimate goal of your CTA is to encourage your audience to take action and an effective CTA can make all the difference in turning your audience from passive viewers into active participants in your brand.
So, make sure you put time and effort into crafting the relevant CTA for your marketing campaign.
