The social media results you see are the sum of your efforts

Putting your therapy/coaching business on the digital map is definitely way more than just setting up an online profile.

It takes patience, consistency, perseverance, etc. — you need to put in the WORK.

I emphasized NEED because the results you will achieve will be in direct proportion to the effort you apply.

Who doesn't want the BEST results for their business? Definitely everyone!

I've seen and hopped into discovery calls where some mental health professionals or wellness coaches are in this headspace:

💭 because they now have an online business account -- people will come to

find them and interact with them first or at least hope that they would.

To put it bluntly, it just doesn't work that way. 🤷‍♀

YOU CAN'T EXPECT

📌 for your ideal audience to find you when you don't want to be found

📌 for your online community to grow magically when you're not doing anything about it

📌 to see an increase in inquiries about your services when you're not posting or talking about it enough

📌 for paid brand collaborations or opportunities when you don't make an effort to connect

I'm sharing these because I want you to have realistic and reasonable expectations especially when you're starting to build and grow your therapy/coaching business on Instagram.

This isn't meant to pressure you at all!

Allow me to walk you through ideas that might be helpful for you in building sustainable and long-term success in your therapy/coaching business.

1️⃣ MAKE YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE KNOWN.

📌 Be intentionally visible online if you want your ideal audience to find you

There are a lot of platforms available online that you can choose from like Instagram.

The goal is not just to have an online account and make it convenient for your audience to find and contact you but also to:

  • build and grow a community and eventually your influence

  • understand the ins and outs of Instagram so you can better serve your community

  • be familiar with and eventually master how you can leverage each Instagram feature to attract and support your ideal audience using your free content

PRO TIP:

  • Start with one platform where most of your ideal audience is online or active, and go from there.

  • If you immediately want to conquer two or more platforms, this is a perfect recipe for burnout and the quickest way for you to quit and say that it's not working!

2️⃣ PROVIDE VALUABLE CONTENT TO YOUR IDEAL AUDIENCE

📌 Make your content digestible or easy to understand

Provide content that

✅ educates

✅ motivates or inspires

✅ entertains or is relatable

✅ makes them feel seen, understood, and heard

✅ provides solutions to common challenges

It's so important to identify your audience and their needs so you can create content that's relevant and valuable for them.

You may also consider sharing some actionable tips, ideas, and thoughts that can be helpful to their knowledge.

Should they need a step further, it's now in your court to decide which of these would best fit their needs currently:

  • download your lead magnet (online freebie)

  • let them sign up for your online courses/programs

  • book a consultation with you (if your private practice is still open)

3️⃣ PROMOTE YOUR THERAPY BUSINESS

📌 If you want to have more inquiries about your service, talk more about your therapy/coaching business!

I can't put more emphasis on how important this is.

Talking about your offers or services as often as you'd like doesn't make you sleazy. You can't expect your ideal audience to just read your entire website or Psychology Today profile and know everything from there 😅

You'd have to make extra effort to make it easy for them to:

  • know who you are

  • understand what you do and who you help

  • know where to contact you, or what your process is when they're ready to work with you

4️⃣ MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO CONNECT WITH OTHER THERAPISTS/COACHES

📌 Genuinely engage and support other therapists and coaches

Build relationships with other accounts in the same field of expertise. You may share each other's content, engage in their comment section, and support their posts.

Collaborating with other accounts can help you create high-quality content that resonates with your followers.

It can also help you expand your reach and grow your audience.

FRIENDLY TIP:

As you start growing your online presence, it's always best to be consistent:

  • with the value you offer,

  • with the brand you make, and

  • with the presence you want your ideal audience to perceive.

When budget isn't a factor, it's better to consult and work with someone experienced to get the best results while not putting so much on your plate!
